On the Belcourt stage CDJ was in control-guitar and voice strong and focused. Singer/songwriters have a tendency to stay rooted in one place, so perhaps a headset mic might encourage her to roam and further enhance interaction with audience and band. Disc disappointments are few, although the payoff in the self-indulgent "Just Another Plane" doesn't gain enough altitude to seem part of this overall high-flying voyage.

I was introduced to CDJ music in Ottawa during Canadian Country Music Awards week, two years before her U.S. album debut and was immediately won over by her unique singer/songwriter perspective and personal phrasings. She's won armfuls of CCMA Awards, an ACM honor for Top New Female, an AMA accolade and was named Music Row's Breakthrough Writer in 2000. Happily-this CD ain't no Dress Rehearsal, it's the real thing!
