I remember Kye
saying to me, "Let's write something that means something to you." Well, I
told her I had this title called "Masterpiece" and it was about a great love
that would be compared to art. The love had to be pure and a great example
of what it should be, or should I say, what I think love should be, and hope
to find one day. We tossed ideas around for a while, but nothing seemed to
stick or mean anything to us. I started talking about my aunt and uncle,
Nellie and Tim, because I was trying to explain the kind of love I was
talking about. Mary Ann and Kye sat there listening intently to the stories
I told about Tim and Nellie, and then Kye said, "We need to just write about
them and be honest." And that's what we did.
This is a true story,
obviously, about my uncle Tim, his wife Nellie and their son Daniel. |
