I love what this song says, because I think it's the way I like to live my life. For the most part I'm a risk-taker. I do believe if you don't allow yourself to fall for someone, you will never get the chance to really love. You need to open up your heart. You're always going to make mistakes along the way, that's a given. There's a line in the song that my co-writer Tommy came up with that I love and wish I had written, "'cause even a heart that's locked away can find a way to break." It's like even if you don't take the risk, you're probably going to get hurt some other way anyways, so what have you got to lose? Even if you get hurt along the way, it will be worth all the pain when you find the right one. Or for that matter, finally getting a record deal will so be worth moving away from your comfort zone and all the waitressing and house cleaning, etc.
