“My Little Secret” is just a fun song, a title of something that I had lying around that I always imagined writing about: that rush of feeling for someone when you don’t want them to know yet, but you’re totally in love. Gordon played me some guitar music that inspired me to bring out this title from my book. So I just kind of got in that place in my head, and I told Gordon the idea. I told him, “So many people are gonna relate. But it needs to rock!” Gordon is such a great guitarist - and vocalist for that matter - and he came up with all the cool guitar parts on the demo, which he ended up putting on the record, too. In a way, this song is like “Complicated” on my first album, but different. “Complicated” was a frustrating song because I was in the middle of that situation. “My Little Secret” is a fun thought for me to go back to, even though I’m married now. Although it’s not a “this-moment-in-my-life” song, I felt it needed to be on this record.
